U.S. Health Secretary Praises Taiwan on Visit

Island nation has succeeded in approach to coronavirus.

U.S. Health and Human Services Secretary Alex Azar is in Taiwan on the highest-level visit to that nation by a U.S. official since 1979. The United States had dropped formal diplomatic ties with the self-governing island as relations between the U.S. and China were forged at that time.

The health secretary praised Taiwan on its success in handling the coronavirus pandemic, expressing disapproval for the way China has excluded Taiwan from international initiatives. With limited international assistance, Taiwan has come through the pandemic better than many other nations.

“This visit represents an acknowledgement of the United States and Taiwan’s deep friendship and partnership across security, economics, health care, and democratic open transparent values,” Secretary Azar said.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For Secretary Azar as he seeks to stop the pandemic in the U.S.
  • For strengthened relations between the U.S. and Taiwan.
  • For President Trump as he works to strength relationships with U.S. allies.
